TESDA to introduce courses on Content Creation

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is pushing for training centers to introduce courses on content creation, aiming to inspire more Filipinos to venture into lucrative online livelihood opportunities.

TESDA Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Ph.D., revealed that the agency has formulated competency standards for Content Creation (Social Media) Level III. These standards serve as a foundation for institutions to design suitable training programs.

Recognizing the escalating number of content creators, Secretary Mangudadatu stresses the importance of providing quality training, particularly in crafting and delivering messages effectively, and ensuring the excellence of materials shared across diverse social media platforms.

“Virtual networks and communities have revolutionized our ability to connect with our audience, establish brand presence, and enhance engagement. However, the success of these endeavors hinges on the caliber and relevance of the content we disseminate. Hence, it’s imperative for our content creators to possess the requisite skills and knowledge to generate captivating and interactive content,” Secretary Mangudadatu remarked.

By equipping aspiring digital content producers with comprehensive training programs, Filipinos can harness their potential to capitalize on online livelihood opportunities using accessible technology, often from the comfort of their homes.

“I urge technical-vocational providers to incorporate courses on content creation based on these new competency standards. Many of our compatriots exhibit remarkable talent and resourcefulness, and I am optimistic that with the right skill set, they can create content that resonates deeply with their audience, fosters meaningful connections, and ultimately makes significant contributions to society,” the Secretary added.

These standards were formulated by TESDA in collaboration with the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc.

The qualification seeks to impart the skills necessary for producing and disseminating content on social media platforms to inform or entertain audiences. It emphasizes ideation for social media posts, transforming concepts into multimedia content, and amplifying their reach.

Core competencies of the qualification encompass conceptualizing social media posts, translating concepts into multimedia content, and disseminating content effectively.
